LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Groups of foster grandparents are helping children keep their education on track during the summer break.

The Village Learning Center at Midwest Church of Christ in West Louisville’s California neighborhood is one of several at area churches.

In addition to the education programs, the centers also provide field trips and server breakfast, lunch and dinner.

“We get private donations. We don’t get any state or federal funds. It’s strictly supported from contributors and from businesses and people who care about these children,” program director Richard Curry said.

The program lasts for 9 weeks.

The centers also offer after school help during the school year.
