RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) -- First lady Michelle Obama is visiting Kentucky to give a commencement speech at Eastern Kentucky University.
The first lady's speech was Saturday night at the Richmond campus. She will spoke to education and business graduates in the last of three campus ceremonies.
The White House says the first lady spoke at EKU as part of her initiative to support veterans and military families.
EKU has gained national recognition for its efforts to help veterans advance their education.
The university offers a Veterans Success Center that provides advising and job placement services for veterans.
More than 1,275 veterans and their dependents are enrolled at Eastern Kentucky.
