(WHAS11)  The director of Louisville’s Free Public Library is getting national recognition.

On Monday, Mayor Jerry Abramson announced Craig Buthod will receive the National Librarian of the Year award.

Buthod was chosen for the award because of his commitment to the library expansion, his response to the august flash floods and his partnership with schools.

Buthod will be presented with the award on Friday in Boston.
