LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Just a day after the Kentucky Derby, fans got the chance to get up close and personal with winner California Chrome Sunday morning.
Hours after his win, Chrome was out in the stables for all to see.
It was a morning just like any other for the colt but his trainer Art Sherman is still riding high on the accomplishment of his champion horse.
“This made my career. You go back on all the years you put in and all the decent races you won. A lot of grade ones and grade twos over my career,” he said. “Just loved it. But when you have a champion like this, they got offered $6 million; they’ll get offered $10 million now.”
California Chrome and Sherman will head back to California this week.
The second jewel in the Triple Crown, The Preakness Stakes, will take place on May 17.
