LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Two men are behind bars after allegedly robbing and assaulting a food delivery man.

Those two men are now behind bars but the delivery driver, Michael Lispey, is speaking out about how he feared for his life.

"The gentleman that came with the pistol kind of ambushed me from the side," Lispey said.

Lispey said the bumps and bruises he sustained are nothing, he feels lucky to get away alive.

"He had to hit me one more last time as he walked off. He enjoyed what he did. This wasn't about the money. There wasn't much money; maybe less than a hundred dollars," Lispey said.

The delivery driver for Taste of China in Old Louisville believed he was followed on his delivery run two days ago. After dropping off food in the 1300 block of Brook, he noticed someone in his car, then another man standing next to him with a gun demanding money. And once he gave it to him, he thought they were going to kill him.

“He had a hold of me after he had money and he was dragging back somewhere to do whatever. That's what scared me more than anything," Lispey said.

Police arrested Derwin White and Martinus Williams for the theft, assault and fleeing from police. When police arrived at the scene, the men led them on a chase across several blocks

“Fortunately we were able to recover virtually all the funds. The delivery driver is OK and did not sustain serious injuries but he was struck in the face with a handgun several times," Alicia Smiley, with LMPD, said.

They were finally caught around 2nd Street.

Lispey said while he knows they are behind bars. He fears they'll get out and come back after him.
