BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WHAS11) – Kentucky State Police have identified two females who were found dead in their home Tuesday morning near Bardstown, Ky.
In a release issued just after 11 p.m., police identified the victims as 48-year-old Kathy Netherland, an elementary school teacher, and a 16-year-old juvenile. Police would not elaborate how they died.
More than a dozen police cars responded to the home in the 5100 block of Springfield Road. It was a scene that rattled neighbors, family and friends from miles away.
"To wake up to this, this morning, it was a shock. I feel for the family," Kyra Greenwell, a neighbor said.

It took several hours before police received a warrant to enter the home and begin their investigation. Hours later, they were still searching for answers.
"We received a call from a family member that they were going to come over and check, because a family member failed to come to school today, and when he came over, he found both victims inside and immediately called us," Lt. Jeremy Thompson, with KY State Police said.
Area authorities were still investigating the scene well into the evening hours.
"If someone did something over there, it's scary. We just don't know what happened, what to think," Sherry Richardson, a neighbor said.
"This is really close to home," Greenwell said. "It's scary."
Kentucky State Police say further information about the case will be released when it becomes available.
Autopsies on the females will be performed Wednesday at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville.
