LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Dare to Care's push to get more fruits and vegetables on the tables of families in need got a big boost on Tuesday.
That boost was delivered in the form of $40,000 pounds of apples from Washington state.
The apples will go to help the Backpack Buddies program at JCPS and 14 Kid Cafes, which provide hot meals to kids at night.
Dare to Care says food donations are great but they also accept monetary donations. Just $1 can turn into four meals.
Dare to Care plans to provide more than five million pounds of fruits and vegetables to those in the area in 2013.
