LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Agencies, hospitals and schools across Kentuckiana that serve special needs children got some great news from the WHAS Crusade for children Friday.

The Crusade sent out grant letters to 182 organizations to let them know their requests will be funded from the $5.6 million collected during this year's Crusade.

"There's so many exciting projects for Crusade funding this year - from braille books to specialized equipment at Kosair Children's Hospital for an MRI and cardiac equipment to i-Pads, which have proven so effective for children who have communication challenges," WHAS Crusade for Children CEO Dawn Lee said.

This year, Kosair Children's Hospital received the largest rant of more than $900,000.
