LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Emergency crews have doused the fire that broke out in an empty rail car Tuesday morning.

Firefighters said they were called out to a rail yard near the intersection of 34th and Market streets just before 9 a.m. after an employee noticed smoke coming from a rail car.

Sgt. Salvador Melendez said the car that typically carries steel coils was empty, but the insulation caught fire. It took firefighters about an hour to contain the fire.

There was no public health risk associated with the fire, Melendez said, and no injuries reported.

Melendez said the train was at the yard overnight and an employee noticed the smoke as it was set to leave the yard Tuesday morning.
