LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – On Tuesday we're getting our first look at court documents filed in the appeal of the Jefferson County student assignment plan to the Kentucky Supreme Court.
Attorneys for the board argue that the assignment plan is necessary to combat de facto segregation and state that the Jefferson County Public wants the assignment plan.
They also go on to state that they are appalled at the appellate court's decision to side with the parents who sued the district.
Those parents argue their children have the right to attend the school closest to their homes.
The Kentucky Supreme Court will hear the case April 18 in Frankfort.
