LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Country music icon Naomi Judd had many more reasons to sing and celebrate as she was inducted into the Kentucky Legends Hall of Fame.
The Ashland, Kentucky native was inducted Saturday afternoon as part of Louisville’s International Festival of Film.
Judd, a five-time Grammy winner, rose to prominence along with her daughter Wynona when they made it big as the singing duo “The Judds.”
She became emotional during a press conference while describing the importance of the film festival to her.
“It’s so important for a kid to be nourished and told that it’s okay to explore and have imagination – that you don’t have to be like everyone else, Wynona definitely wasn’t,” Judd said.
After the induction ceremony, Judd attended a screening of “Nearly Wed,” a movie she appears in.
Louisville International Festival of Film is partnering with three Jefferson County Public Schools in order to bring film and visual art training to local students.
