LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Rumors were rampant Thursday afternoon that Metro Council member Judy Green intended to resign her position Thursday during a rally her supporters organized.
However, that was far from the case.
"I am not resigning," Green said.
A crowd of nearly 50 people chanted and sang at her arrival at a rally of support Thursday evening. A panel of people spoke about Metro Council's upcoming trial to remove Green, calling it unfair, unwarranted and some said it had racist undertones; but most called the accusations against Green, foolish.
"Sister Green was not putting money in her pockets... she was doing the right thing for her community," one speaker said.
"The charges really don't warrant impeachment. They could have fined her or given her a letter of reprimand," another speaker said.
Green said "I'm being crucified. I'm being put up on the cross" but she will not resign her post.”
There were reports Green was moving boxes out of her council office Thursday afternoon, fueling speculation that she was indeed resigning. Green said she had a work crew in her office, but she's not moving anywhere.
A few weeks ago Green was hospitalized. Her husband told her crowd of supporters she had an invasive heart procedure. She said she's in better health and she intends to attend the hearing to remove her next week.
