LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- LMPD Chief Steve Conrad is giving an update on the shooting in west Louisville involving an off-duty Metro Police officer.
According to our WHAS11reporter at the news conference, LMPD says the officer involved in a shooting Tuesday night did not call for back up.
LMPD also says they are suspicious that officer may have been under the influence.
The shooting happened late Tuesday night at 24th and Chestnut. Police say Detective Chauncey Carthan was in plain clothes and in an unmarked car, when he got into a fight with a man in another car.
Police say Carthan identified himself as an officer, but the man did not comply, so Carthan shot him.
Police said late Wednesday that the man was not armed.
