LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)--  Efforts are ongoing to raise money for mounting medical bills that stem from a serious accident that occurred just before 5 a.m. Christmas morning.

Joey Zeller, 25, has been in a medically induced coma at University Hospital since he lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a tree, the car bursting into flames.

In just one day of fundraising, nearly $3,000 has been collected.

His father said he will be facing a long and painful recovery, but it will not be a lonely one.

A benefit concert is set for January 30 at Diamonds Billiard and Pub on Barret Avenue, where Zeller worked as a bouncer.  Doors will open at 7:30 p.m.
