(WHAS11) - The Commonwealth's attorney is pushing for a house bill that would allow former felons to vote.

House Bill 70 would allow voters to decide whether former felons should have their voting rights restored once they've finished their sentences.

Right now Kentucky and Virginia are the only two states in the country that don't allow former felons to vote.

The last three years a similar bill has passed house committees and the house but the state senate has never taken it up.
