JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The LMPD commander of the Eighth Division is being removed from his duties and demoted to Lieutenant.
In a written statement, LMPD Chief Steve Conrad said he became aware of a complaint alleging inappropriate conduct on the part of Major Todd Felty in January. Chief Conrad launched an investigation which determined Felty and an adult woman engaged in consensual, sexual conduct while he was on-duty. This actions took place in the police building and vehicle, the statement said. Chief Conrad says that conduct violates the department's Standard Operating Procedures, which prohibit sexual activity while on-duty.
Felty has been with Louisville Police since 1997. Felty has been suspended for 20 days without pay and has been demoted to Lieutenant. He has been temporally reassigned to one of the remaining Patrol Divisions.
In the statement, Chief Conrad said he is "very disappointed by the findings of this investigation. This type of behavior is unacceptable and is not representative of our department"
Lt. Rob Davis will serve as acting commander in the Eighth Division until a permanent replacement is named.
