LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The focus on UofL's move to the ACC got lost for a few moments on Wednesday night.
An Alabama newspaper reported on Wednesday that former SEC powerhouse Auburn had interviewed UofL Football Coach Charlie Strong for the job.
At about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday the article broke on www.al.com, a newspaper in Birmingham.
They reported that a credible source told them that an interview with Coach Strong had taken place in the last two days.
But after the article started getting attention, a very frustrated Strong told Sports Illustrated the report wasn't true and that he hasn't even spoken to them.
Just today while school officials were talking about the ACC announcement Athletic director Tom Jurich was asked about Strong's future with the school.
"I've said it since I've been here. We're going to do everything we can to keep our coaches. But there comes a point where they want to be here. Charlie's got a wonderful situation here and he's done a wonderful job...so I hope that all matches up,” Jurich said.
We caught up with UofL president Dr. James Ramsey who told us he's not been contacted by anyone wanting to talk to Strong.
