LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- You know the sights, sounds and scents of the fair – the rides, the games, the vendors and the food – but there are some changes to this year’s Kentucky State Fair you may not know about.

This year you don’t need to buy tickets for the Thrillway rides, you can buy a wristband that will get you unlimited rides any day of the week, even Saturday.  There are no special “wristband days,” but wristbands range in price from $25 to $15 depending on which day you visit. Click here for more information.

Another change for 2013 – you may not have to pay for parking. Parking at the Kentucky Exposition Center is still $8, but you can park in the green lot at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium for FREE Friday through Sunday. You can catch a shuttle that runs from the stadium to the Expo Center. You may also park at the former Executive Inn Hotel for $5 per car. The lot is open on weekends beginning at 3 p.m. Click here for more information.

If you're coming to a free concert at the fair you will notice a big change, no more sitting in the stands at old Cardinal Stadium because of safety concerns. Crews will set up seats on the field. The free concerts begin at 8 p.m. Click here for a list of free concerts.

And possibly the biggest change this year, a new Fair Board president – Rachel Platt sat down with Rip Rippatoe at the fair Thursday. Rachel has more on all the fair changes in the video above.
