NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WHAS11) -- Tuesday morning businesses in New Albany will get together to come up with a plan to make sure customers keep coming to southern Indiana.

For now, business owners we talked to say they're taking a wait and see approach to how people adjust to travel changes and the affect it might have on business.

Sitting in all this traffic will really make you crave a hot meal and a cold drink.

"Before that bridge gets fixed, we're going to have to put up with it," Dexter Ison, Sellersburg resident, said.

Roger Baylor who owns the New Albanian Brewery hopes customers will take their traffic frustrations out on his pizza and beer selections at his two New Albany Locations.

"We have to take possession of the message and say we're still here and we're still doing what we do. You liked us before. I think most people who are our fans across the river are going to keep on coming," Baylor said.

Baylor says he is more concerned the bridge closure will impact his second location on Bank Street. He's hopeful a gathering Tuesday will rally downtown business owners to beat down the bridge blues.

"I think we all get together in one place tomorrow morning and actually talk it through, we're going to haves some strategies and ideas for some things we can do to keep our name alive," Baylor added.

With the woes we heard from drivers--it appears southern Indiana businesses may stay steady thanks to their local customers staying in town.

"My mom didn't go to work today because she didn't want to cross over the bridge because of traffic. She worked from home," Adam Czarnecki said.

"Seven o'clock this morning it was backed up all the way past exit six. It's going to be rough," Sellersburg resident Chuck Coval said.
