For two years,  a Bullitt County Deputy Jailer was allegedly breaking the law. But just yesterday, he admitted to sheriff's deputies he sexually abused a girl from the time she was eleven,  to 13-years-old. Now that jailer is behind bars with the inmates who once obeyed him.

Yesterday, after Steven Plessinger's shift ended at the Bullitt County Detention Center, jail staff brought him to the Sheriff's Office, where he admitted to everything and was arrested.

"He was very quiet, mild mannered... this you would never expect, ever,” said Kim Shaw.

Kim Shaw says she used to work with Bullitt County Deputy Jailer Steven Plessinger. She found out today he was arrested for first degree sodomy and first degree sex abuse for allegedly abusing a girl from the time she was 11 to 13 years old. It's been the victim's secret for years - she's now 15.

"She probably felt like she had no, any other alternative because he was in law enforcement,” said Shaw.

"Take faith in the justice system, we will prosecute. It doesn't matter if he worked in the justice system, he will be involved in the justice system, just on the other side,” said Sgt. Mike Murdoch with the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office.

Murdoch says the complaint came from CPS. And he says Plessinger admitted sex acts occured on more than one occasion for at least a two year period.

"He did apologize. He apologized to me one time. Mistake he made is going to affect him for the rest of his life,” said Murdoch.

But people we talked to said that apology isn't good enough.

"This is just unacceptable. It doesn't matter if you're in law enforcement or not, it is just unacceptable,” said Patrick Miller, who lives in Bullitt County.

"I'm thinking he should be fired. There's no excuse for that. If I had a child or grandchild, i would say he's history. There's no excuse for that,” said Shaw.

Plessinger is separated from inmates at the jail because he used to work there and because of the allegations against him.
