LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – In two weeks, more than 8,000 members of the community will be cleaning all over the city.
Bags, gloves and t-shirts were given out ahead of the Brightside Community Cleanup which will be held on April 13.
So far, 8,000 volunteers have signed up but they are hoping for at least 12,000 by the time the clean up takes place.
The volunteers will pick up trash, plant flowers, paint and beautify more than 200 locations around the city.
“This is an event in which so many thousands of people who take pride in their community show it by going out and picking up garbage and this is something kids can do, seniors can do, anyone can do,” Congressman John Yarmuth said.
There’s no limit on the number of teams or the number of volunteers that can participate in the cleanup.
