A Breckenridge County woman who survived a brutal attack by her neighbor shared her story with a crowd in Louisville Monday night.
Dina Smith and four others who have overcome obstacles talked about appreciating life and finding a positive outlook.
Some had disabilities; others faced traumatic events like Dina.
Her neighbor came into her home last August, raped her, cut her throat, and stabbed her nearly two dozen times.
He is now in prison and Dina Smith has a mission.
"That is why I’m here today. To let you know that the power of prayer got me through that night. There was no reason why I lived other than god has a purpose for me," said Smith.
Other panelists emphasized Dina's message that despite horrific moments in life we can all find reason to give thanks.
