LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)- A boil water advisory is now lifted for about 400 customers  following a water main break and natural gas leak.

The advisory was for residents from Lilly to Maylawn Avenues, and from I-65 to Bradley Avenue. The affected area did include Crittenden Drive and Eastern Parkway. Again the boil water advisory was lifted early Saturday morning.

Around 8:30 p.m. Thursday a 48 inch pipe burst at Eastern Parkway and Crittenden Drive. It is the same line that burst one month ago, and this one was only about a block away.

Around 10 p.m. crews were able to get the water main shut down, and around 12:20 a.m. LG & E turned off the natural gas line.

Louisville Water crews have begun to clean up the area near the break site, and are inspecting the pipe.

The Louisville Water says last month’s water main break may have triggered the break Thursday night.  On Monday Louisville Water put the 48 inch back into service, the last few days pressure has been added to the line.  Kelley Dearing-Smith from Louisville Water says all of this may have played a role in Thursday’s break.

There is a huge hole in front of three residents on Eastern Parkway.  Crews spent Thursday trying to clear the tree before they can begin to fix the broken pipe.

Eastern Parkway between Crittenden Drive and Bradley Avenue is closed until clean up is complete. Eastern Parkway between Bradley Avenue and S. Preston Street is now open.
