LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Rural Membership Water is issuing a boil water advisory for all water consumed as a result of a water main break on the south side of the system; loss of pressure was experienced at part of the distribution system serving customers south of the Monroe Township Fire Department.
Even though there is no reason to believe that bacteria have in fact entered the system, they are issuing precautionary boil water advisory for those customers in this area until they are able to confirm through testing of the water that bacteria are not present.
It is anticipated that the testing will be completed by Wednesday, September 8, and consumers will be advised.  In the meantime, customers should boil all water five minutes prior to drinking or using for food preparation.  Of course, boiling the water prior to use for other purposes is not necessary so long as the water is not consumed.
