LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Chris Burks said he has one word for the day after Thanksgiving - overrated.

He spent Thanksgiving afternoon at Meijer searching for Christmas gifts for the family.

For Burks, the sales in the coming hours just aren't worth it.

"I just don't want to fight the crowd," Burks said.

He said the shoppers are too busy, too eager to get the best sale, no matter who they have to push to the side.

"They're crazy," Burks said. "I got knocked down over some Barbie dolls. Never again."

Burks is not alone. Just a few aisles down, we found Brad Breehl and his family on the hunt for the latest fashions.

"We're not camping out for anything Black Friday. We're just here for some last minute deals on shoes," Breehl said.

Black Friday sales may knock shoes off the shelves but the Breehls aren't complaining over Thursday's dollar deals.

"I think Black Friday has gotten out of control. I think every store is getting earlier and earlier. Everybody should just calm down and go when they can. It's not the deal that brings me in. It's just when I've got time and I'm able to do something," Breehl said.

Sonny Schomburg agrees.

"I don't really think you save that much. Maybe one or two people get the big buys, but everybody else stands in line and then they're all gone," Schomburg said.

He said he hasn't shopped on a Black Friday yet.

"They can take it and keep it. I'm not going to get involved," Schomburg said.
