(WHAS11) - The Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass, in Lexington, is alleging that an office manager embezzled thousands of dollars.
The organization’s CEO said Central Bank and Trust recently discovered a scheme involving six people.
The office manager, Bendrea Wilson, has allegedly admitted her involvement and resigned. Organization officials said 142 checks were forged; amounting to $435,000.
Wilson has not been charged, but the organization said five others cashed checks that Wilson is accused of forging.
The amount missing is about one-third of the organization’s annual budget. “We are going to need to raise some funds to keep the doors open,” the spokesperson said. Again, Wilson has not been charged and the FBI currently investigating. vestigating.
