LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A unique boat training took place on the river. The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) trained 120 area responders on a new standardized response protocol for water-based emergencies.

The Belle of Louisville was used as a prop for smaller boats to come up alongside it to pretend to rescue hostages on-board.

WHAS11's Brittany Gonzalez had a chance to ride on one of the small boats to get a unique look at how this training works, just click the video player above and watch.
