FRANKFORT, Ky. (WHAS11) – The principal of Bardstown High School was cleared as a person of interest in the theft of rare Pappy Van Winkle bourbon.

Chris Pickett’s name became tied to the case after surveillance footage of him entering a liquor store surfaced.

The store’s owner said the man in the video tried to sell him a large quantity of Pappy just days after 200 bottles disappeared from the Buffalo Trace Distillery.

Pickett claimed he was trying to buy bottles, not sell.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says they’ve interviewed more than 100 people about the thefts, most of them distillery employees.

No arrests have been made.
