LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)-- The Bardstown Police Department has welcomed two new K-9 units to their force.

The officers, Kyler Wright and Jeremy Cawley, join the force with their dogs, Zeus and Ace, nearly five months after the department’s former K-9 officer, Jason Ellis, was murdered.

Chief Rick McCubbin said Ellis would have been proud to see the K-9 program expand.

The K-9 units have been on the street for nearly a week.  Police said the units are funded by property seized from criminals.
