(WHAS11) -- Kentucky Senator Rand Paul seems to be gaining even more attention and popularity especially after his brief speech at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference.

“I was told I had ten measly minutes. But just in case I brought 13 hours worth of information,” Rand Paul said.

He's referring to that nearly 13 hour filibuster where he attempted to halt confirmation of John Brennan, who is now CIA director.

Some journalists are saying Paul stole the show from Florida Senator Marc Rubio who spoke before him. Thousands of Paul supporters packed the standing room only ballroom, many wearing or holding stand with Rand posters and stickers.

Both Paul and Rubio are being eyed as possible presidential candidates in 2016
