LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A new year also means new beginnings. Doctors and nurses worked through the night at Kentuckiana hospitals delivering New Year’s babies.

Norton Hospital in downtown Louisville appeared to have the first birth. A hospital spokesperson said a baby boy was born there at 12:12 a.m.

At Floyd Memorial Hospital in Indiana the first baby was born to Kristen Phillips. Koltin arrived at 7:58 a.m.

“He looks like my other one. Exactly like him, but with dark hair,” Phillips said.

A boy was also born first at Baptist East hospital. Michael Swanson arrived at 3:40 a.m.

“Once I started pushing he was here in two or three minutes,” mom Bekki Swanson said.

Both of the babies weren’t due for several weeks, but arrived healthy. Babies born on New Year’s Day are said to have luck all their life.
