(WHAS11) The search is on and auditions are underway for members of this year’s Louisville Youth Orchestra. Louisville’s Collegiate School is hosting the auditions that are open all week to young musicians from the ages of 5 years to 21 years old.
This is the Youth Orchestra’s 52nd season and a big highlight this year is an October performance featuring hometown rock band, My Morning Jacket and according to Melody Wash, executive director of the youth orchestra, that has a few people lining up. “We currently have almost 300 signed up for auditions. We’re expecting to get many, many more auditions in and it’s not too late; you can still audition, still get your application in anywhere through the end of next week,” said Walsh.
Cathryn Hunt, Manual High School, said “I also have friends that are trying out this year, like as new members, just so they can be able to play with my morning jacket.”
The Louisville Youth Orchestra performs with My Morning Jacket on October 29 at the KFC-Yum Center.
