LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A dog named “Cessna” is on the mend after being rescued from the Pike County Animal Shelter and flown to Louisville.
A local pilot volunteered to bring the dog to Louisville Friday night so that he could be treated for a bad cut to his leg.
Cessna is currently being treated at the BluePearl Emergency Animal Hospital.
Besides the leg injury, the director of the Arrow Fund says vets discovered two nails in Cessna’s stomach.
Once Cessna has healed, he’ll go to a medical foster and then eventually will be put up for adoption.
“There’s already a list of people interested in him. He’s got such a sweet demeanor to be put through so much. He’s got the face of an angel, I think,” Rebecca Eaves of the Arrow Fund said.
Eaves said vets are continuing tests to make sure the antibiotics are working and will determine whether Cessna suffered any zinc poisoning because of the nails.
