TOMPKINSVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky State Police have made an arrest in the slaying of a Monroe County man who was found dead in his home.
State police say 25-year-old Kassey Russell was charged with murder late Tuesday after being found at a Bowling Green hotel.
Russell is charged in the death of 53-year-old Roger Mansfield. Both the victim and suspect are from the Fountain Run community.
State police Trooper Billy Gregory said Wednesday that investigators are still trying to determine a motive.
Preliminary autopsy results indicated Mansfield died as a result of multiple chop and cuts to the head.
Russell was being held in the Monroe County Jail. It was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney.
State police initially arrested Russell on an unrelated warrant prior to charging him with murder.
