LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Authorities in central Kentucky are looking for an inmate who was mistakenly released from jail on Friday and who is considered by federal officials to be "armed and dangerous."

Officials say 28-year-old Rodney Dewayne Bell was transferred to Fayette County from Shelby County on a contempt of court warrant. His bond was set at $1,000, and it was paid on Friday and Bell released from custody.

A news release from the Lexington-Fayette County Division of Community Corrections says the mistake happened due to a "miscommunication in the transfer documents."

The release said officials discovered Monday that Bell had been housed in Shelby County on a federal holder by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms.

Bell is described as black with black hair and brown eyes, 5-foot-10 and 205 pounds.
