LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A Louisville father and son returned to court Friday as attorneys argued for two separate trials.
Josh Gouker and Joshua Young are facing charges in the murder of 14-year-old Trey Zwicker.
Young’s lawyers argued that if the two are tried together, evidence used to help Young’s defense would be thrown out.
The teen’s lawyer also said the tapes heard in Friday’s pre-trial hearings showed Gouker giving false statements to police, another reason to have two separate trials.
The Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office says the two should be tried together.
A decision about whether to have two separate trials was not made but another hearing in the matter is scheduled for March 22.
