MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Harmful algae blooms have been found in another Kentucky lake.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says test results confirm blue-green algae blooms at Nolin River Lake.
Algae blooms are a natural occurrence and they produce toxins that can irritate your nose and skin.
They have also been found at Barren Reservoir and Taylorsville Lake.
The Corps of Engineers say boaters and swimmers need to be aware of these blooms because drinking or spending too much time in the water could be dangerous.
However, they say there’s no need for people to avoid these lakes all together.
