LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- WHAS11 has learned of a Jefferson County Public Schools bus accident at Stonestreet and Pond Station roads.
The accident happened just after 7 a.m. Tuesday, JCPS officials said, when bus #0448 was rear-ended at a railroad crossing.
JCPS said one student was transported to the hospital after hitting his head.
It is not clear at this time how many students were aboard the depot bus heading for the Phoenix School of Discovery.
Police at the scene said there is a large ice patch near the railroad tracks and they believe the car that rear-ended the bus slid on the ice and in to the back of the bus. A road crew was called to salt the area.
