LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A dozen children are being treated at Kosair Children's Hospital after some scary moments on a summer camp field trip. They're expected to be ok, and had only minor injuries.

That accident happened at Bardstown Road and Hikes Lane in Buechel after 11:30 Wednesday. The school bus and and a small gray vehicle collided.

Children in neck braces were carried away on stretchers as worried parents surrounded Miller Transportation Bus #30.

A summer camp trip ended in chaos.

"A little shaken up  a little anxiety a little frightened," a parent, said.

We're told 31 kids were on board, ages 5 to 10, headed from YMCA Day Camp at Watterson Elementary to Ken Bowling Lanes for a field trip.

The car smashed into the bus, according to YMCA, after running a red light.

The YMCA CEO drove to Bardstown Road and Hikes Lane to calm people's nerves.

"When I talked to the medical folks they described the injuries as pain and non-emergency all precautionary," Steve Tarver, YMCA CEO, said.

Miller Transportation says the bus was manufactured in 2008 and their driver maneuvered in such a way to avoid any more injures.

SKY11 was over the scene. Click here for pictures.
