LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The County Coroner has identified a woman who was struck by a car on the Gene Snyder Freeway early Sunday morning.

41-year-old Karen Tipton of Mount Washington died when a man reportedly struck her while wandering in traffic lanes, according to police. Tipton suffered multiple blunt force injuries.

Louisville Metro Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley says police don’t know what the woman was doing on the interstate.

The driver of the Toyota Solara who hit the woman did stop and called police and as far as police know, he was the only witness.

The LMPD Traffic Unit is still investigating.
