911 out of service in 3 Kentucky counties

FRANKFORT, Ky. (News Release) - 911 services may be affected in parts of Anderson, Spencer and Shelby counties after fiber optic cables were damaged by a nearby residential house fire.

On Saturday, the Kentucky Emergency Management was notified by Mt. Eden's Fire Chief, Doug Herndon, of a residential fire causing damage to the local telecommunications fiber optics which affects 911 services in parts of Anderson and Spencer Counties, and the cities of Lawrenceburg and Mt. Eden and the community of Waddy in Shelby county. 

Residents are encouraged to check their local cell coverage, which may or may not have been affected.  Family members or friends of special needs persons may want to conduct wellness checks, if needed.

Officials estimate the service should be restored by 2 p.m.
