What do you think about Bunning stance blocking unemployment benefits?
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky Lt. Gov. Dan Mongiardo, a candidate for Kentucky's U.S. Senate, will campaign in front of two of Sen. Jim Bunning's offices on Tuesday.
Mongiardo and Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway, both candidates for the Democratic nomination, have been critical of the Republican senator from Kentucky for blocking passage of legislation that would extend federal highway and transit programs. The legislation includes $10 billion for unemployment insurance payments.
Mongiardo's campaign is planning protests at Bunning's Louisville and Lexington offices on Tuesday.
Bunning has said the $10 billion in benefits should be paid through federal stimulus dollars so it won't add to the deficit. He is retiring after his term ends.
