FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Republican Trey Grayson has hired Kentucky native Jeremy Hughes to serve as political director of his U.S. Senate campaign.

In the role, Hughes will lead Grayson's efforts to organize a grass-roots campaign, to build political coalitions and to generate voter turnout.

Hughes previously served as campaign manager for U.S. Rep. Geoff Davis and for unsuccessful state Senate candidate Jack Ditty in a northeastern Kentucky special election earlier this year.

Grayson said he is "thrilled" to have Hughes working for the campaign.
