ARLINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Heavy rains in western Kentucky are covering some roadways.

The Kentucky Department of Transportation says portions of two state highways have been closed in Hickman and Fulton County. Several roads around Arlington in southern Carlisle County were also covered with water Friday afternoon. The department says in a statement that a stretch of Ky. 80 between Columbus and Arlington is closed due to two feet of water. Officials have also closed Ky. 94 between mile markers nine and ten.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning through Friday night for six counties in far western Kentucky.

The weather service says in a statement that a cold front moving east is bringing heavy rains into western Kentucky and southern Illinois with totals expected between two and three inches.
