(WHAS11) - After 20 years helping find volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana, we've come across a diverse group of kids needing adults in their lives.

Watch this story

Karmah is one impressive young man, who has been on the waiting list for months and really wants a big brother. ?And he's excited to learn about this new home of his in America.

14-year-old Karmah is from Liberia, Africa. ?He's been in Louisville only two years.

And the thing I really like about him, he's got great spirit and he doesn't give up.? We watched him attempt basket after basket after basket on the basketball court.? But he always maintained that smile, and we found, he's already picked his favorite basketball team; the Louisville Cardinals.

It's a big brother Karmah really needs, as he's been on the waiting list for months;?and he's so eager to learn about his new world in America.

He's a polite, respectful young man who also loves his sports.

His mother and father want a big brother for Karmah who is willing to work with an immigrant family whose second language right now, is English.? They want to become more fluent in English and gain a big brother for Karmah to be an educator of sorts.

Like a typical growing, 14-year-old boy, Karmah loves certain American dishes.? His favorite? Spaghetti !

His mom told me, "He is a good boy".

Karmah is one of 400-local kids on the waiting list.
