(WHAS11) - Republican senate hopeful Rand Paul was hospitalized Saturday, his campaign says he has a quote "bad intestinal infection," but should be back home Sunday.
In his stead supporters handed out buttons and flyers at the Tea Party Saturday.
Paul's campaign manager says the grassroots event fits the Paul campaign.
"The people who are inspired to come out to something like this are not party hacks. They're just regular people, and a lot of them, we keep hearing they're people that haven't been coming to political events before; they're just becoming inspired," said David Adams, Campaign Manager.
Adams says the Paul campaign has raised $815,000 with the average donation about $50.??
He's confident they will keep up with opponents.
