BURGIN, Ky. (AP) -- A state spokeswoman says four inmates remain hospitalized and hundreds of others are being relocated to prisons across Kentucky in the wake of a riot in which inmates set their central Kentucky prison ablaze.

Justice cabinet spokeswoman Jennifer Brislin spoke Saturday at a news conference at the medium-security Northpoint Training Center, parts of which continued to smolder almost 24 hours after the disturbance began.

Brislin says about 700 of the more than 1,200 inmates housed at Northpoint, about 30 miles south of Lexington, were being taken to other prisons.

She says in some cases that meant inmates were being double-bunked or housed in gyms or other secure buildings inside prisons.

Brislin says a total of eight inmates were injured in the disturbance, which began Friday at about 6:30 p.m.
