(WHAS11) - Three store owners in Shively are breathing a sigh of relief after the man responsible for smashing into their stores has turned himself into authorities but not exactly where he should have.
He will face at least six criminal charges but officers say it appears he was trying to skip a couple of steps by turning himself in to the jail instead of at the Shively Police Department where detectives are questioning him about the crimes.
37 year-old Keith Robards will face three burglary charges and three criminal mischief charges for what officers say he did early Monday morning. Shively police say he drove his Ford Escort into three stores attempting to bust open ATMs and lottery machines to get cash.
Police are thankful to have the suspect in custody.

"It was fast. Obviously we'd like all of them to be this way. Unfortunately, sometimes it's not. It is with the cooperation of everybody which lead to the circumstances we got at this point," says Chief Ralph Miller of the Shively Police Department.
Shively police say they started getting calls about Robards as soon as WHAS11 News aired the surveillance video Tuesday.
Police say Keith Robards had a previous warrant out for his arrest.
Last september, Robards allegedly stole some auto parts, and took money for car repairs he never made.
Anyone with information on this burglary is asked to call Shively Police at 502-448-6181 or Crime Stoppers at 502-582-2583.
