(WHAS11) - Ashley is buying a birthday card for her math tutor, a teacher she would have never known without her big sister.

She ended the school term last spring with D's in math, and without a very bright academic future.

But Andrea Dickson asked a friend to tutor her little sister.

A math teacher said, "She tutored Ashley, this summer in math and it's made all the difference. She has, her teachers are calling home saying that she's a joy to work with and that she's a straight A student."

And there's more. She's encouraging Ashley to play soccer and basketball. And they have a great time shopping.

This little sister is a changed person.

Her big sister taught her everything from how to build a campfire to how to throw a dinner party. And she did.

She is a big sister herself, making the same kind of statement as a role model, a strong successful woman, giving guidance to another generation for more information on how you can become a big brother or big sister call 1-877-588-2300.
