(WHAS11) - Mayor Jerry Abramson's power of the purse strings has been limited by the Metro Council by passing two ordinances.
The move requires council approval for any current bond worth more $150,000 and any future bonds worth $500,000. Bonds are funded by taxpayer money.
The council says it's a direct result of the controversy surrounding the city's contributions to the center city project, which is more than $1 million.
Not just that, but money used for renovations at the sports and social club on Fourth Street Live.
The ordinances were passed unanimously at Thursday night's metro council meeting.
